Choosing a provident fund (PVD) plan that fits your goals does not mean selecting the option with the highest past return. Check your employer’s fund rules, contribution rates, vesting conditions, time until retirement, and the amount of investment risk you can accept.
Check the details with HR and the fund manager
- Your contribution rate and the employer contribution, including when employer contributions become yours.
- Available investment policies and the process for changing a plan.
- Fees, investment results in relation to risk, and asset diversification.
- Benefits when you retire, resign, change jobs, or die.
- Tax consequences of receiving or transferring the money under current-year rules.
The SEC explains employee and employer contributions and options at the end of membership in its PVD benefits guide. Check your employer’s current fund rules and use the Revenue Department’s 2026 tax forms and guidance before planning with tax figures.
The linked video does not discuss your employer’s PVD rules or individual investment options, so it should not be used to choose a fund. For another retirement plan, compare this with the Government Pension Fund (GPF) and review retirement portfolio planning.
