Wat Chalor

History
The temple’s history is uncertain. Information attributed to the Fine Arts Department’s Region 2 office in Suphan Buri says it was built in the late Ayutthaya period, around B.E. 2275 (1732), during King Borommakot’s reign. The account says he travelled by boat along the Chao Phraya River and Khlong Lat, now called Khlong Bang Kruai, and thought a temple should be built there. It also recounts that a Chinese junk had previously sunk in the area, killing many crew members, and that people believed the place was haunted.
