Wat Yang Luang

History
Wat Yang Luang is in Tha Pha Subdistrict, along the same route as nearby Wat Pa Daet. Karen people, also known as Yang, built the temple. It is believed to date to around the 24th Buddhist century. Behind the principal Buddha image in the viharn is a structure called Ku Prasat or Kitchakut, which people in the past regarded as a gateway to heaven. Its architecture blends Burmese Pagan style with Lanna and the Chiang Saen school.
