Wat Si Thammaram

History
Wat Si Thammaram is in Yasothon Municipality and was first built around B.E. 2395 during Rama IV’s reign. Local history says the temple was created in memory of the families of Chao Uparat But and Chao Kham Muan, relatives of Phra Sunthon Ratchawongsa (Chao Fai But). The account says they were executed at a place called the “fire prison.” The ordination hall was built over the execution site, and the temple has since been renamed several times.
