Wat Phra Sing

History
Located in central Chiang Mai on Sam Lan Road, this temple has a history of more than 655 years. It was originally called “Wat Li Chiang Phra,” meaning a temple near the central market. During the reign of the 8th king of the Mangrai dynasty, the Phra Buddha Sihing image was brought here, giving rise to the name Wat Phra Sing. In Lanna tradition, it is the temple for the Year of the Dragon.
