Wat Maha That (Yasothorn)

History
On Wari Ratchadet Road in Nai Mueang, Wat Maha That has been closely associated with Yasothon since the city was founded. Local tradition says that around 1770–1776, Chao Phraya Worarat Phakdi (Chao Phraya Wo), Thao Kham Sing and Thao Kham Pha founded the city and built Wat Thung Sawang. In 1778, Chao Phraya Wichai Ratchasuriyawong Khatthiyaratch (Thao Na) restored its great stupa, now Phra That Anon, and renamed the temple Wat Maha That.
