Wat Benchamabophit

History
Located on Si Ayutthaya Road in Dusit, the temple was established by King Chulalongkorn and designed by Prince Narisara Nuwattiwong. Its ornate, orderly traditional Thai architecture has been praised as one of the best-planned temple layouts. It is decorated with what the source describes as the finest marble from Italy; international visitors commonly know it as the Marble Temple. The principal Buddha image is a replica of Phra Phuttha Chinnarat at Wat Phra Si Rattana Mahathat in Phitsanulok. The gallery behind the ordination hall lines up 52 ancient Buddha images in different postures, collected by Prince Damrong Rajanubhab from towns across Thailand and from abroad.
