Tuek Daeng

History
Tuek Daeng (the Red Building) is in Pak Nam Laem Sing Subdistrict, at Laem Sing Pier near Khuk Khi Kai Prison. Built in B.E. 2436 alongside the prison, the site was originally the location of Pom Phikhat Patchamit, a fort built during the reign of Rama III. After France took control of Chanthaburi, the fort was demolished and a single-storey red building with a tiled roof was constructed as French military lodging and headquarters.
