Sao Inthakhin (Chiang Mai City Pillar)

History
Sao Inthakhin served as the city pillar when King Mangrai established Chiang Mai in B.E. 1839. It now stands in a small Thai-style pavilion in front of Wat Chedi Luang. The pillar is made from a large timber trunk buried underground. An annual celebration called Inthakhin takes place around May.
