Pra Bang Buddha at Wat Trai Phum

History
Pra Bang at Wat Trai Phum is a standing Buddha image in the “Stopping the Ocean” posture, in Lao Buddhist style. It is 80 inches tall, with a 2.5-inch pedestal and a 15-inch octagonal base resting on eight elephant figures. The source dates the image to B.E. 2008 and says it is highly revered; local belief holds that taking it out in procession will bring rain. Visitors must ask the abbot for permission before paying respects.
