Phraya Chaiboon Monument

History
The monument stands about 4 kilometres from Phrae Provincial Hall beside Highway 101. Phraya Chaiboon served as Phrae’s governor from B.E. 2440 to 2445. During the 2445 B.E. Shan rebellion, he was killed after refusing to sign Phrae over to the rebels. King Chulalongkorn (Rama V) ordered troops to suppress the revolt, and a monument was erected in his memory; he was also elevated to the title Phraya Ratcharitthanon Phon Phon Phakdi.
