Phrathat Yakhu

History
Located in Nong Paen Subdistrict, Phrathat Yakhu is part of a once-prosperous Dvaravati-era ancient city, dated to around the 12th–16th centuries or approximately 1,400 years ago. It is also linked to a tragic tale of unrequited love between Princess Fa Yat of Fa Daet Song Yang and Phaya Chantharat of Chiang Som. The story says their love led to war between the two cities and tragedy for the couple. Remains of the ancient city are still scattered across the area.
