Ko Raet

History
Ko Raet is in Moo 3, Don Sak Subdistrict, about 500 metres from the Don Sak coast. The island is called “Ko Raet” after a local tree known as “ton khee raet.” Most island residents are of Hainanese Chinese descent; their ancestors migrated and settled here more than 200 years ago. The community’s Chinese culture is reflected in its rows of wooden houses and Chinese shrine.
