Erawan Waterfall

History
The waterfall is within Erawan National Park. It was formerly called Sadong Mong Lai, after the stream that feeds it from Huai Mong Lai in the Salop mountain range. Water descends from the mountain peaks over limestone cliffs in seven tiers. The cliff above the seventh tier is called Phu Pha Erawan. When the flow is strong, the formation resembles three elephant heads—an Erawan elephant—which is the source of the national park’s name.
