History
Ban Chiang, in Ban Chiang Subdistrict, is an important historical site in northeastern Thailand and Southeast Asia. The Fine Arts Department surveyed and excavated the archaeological site in 1974–1975 (B.E. 2517–2518). Evidence from the excavations places the prehistoric site at about 5,600–1,800 years old. UNESCO registered Ban Chiang as a historic World Heritage site in December 1992 in Carthage, Tunisia.
