“Millionaire” and “billionaire” are often used to describe levels of wealth, but articles and statistics may count different things: net worth, annual income, or liquid investments. Before comparing figures, check the currency and the measure being used.
What is the difference between a million and a billion?
In the international number system, one million is 1,000,000 units and one billion is 1,000,000,000 units. In the same currency, a billion is 1,000 times a million. A person described as having a million or a billion does not necessarily hold that amount in cash; the figure may refer to total assets, assets minus debt, or the value of a business ownership stake.
How to convert an amount into Thai baht
Use this formula:
Foreign-currency amount × Thai baht exchange rate per unit on the chosen date
Exchange rates change, and banks may quote different buying and selling rates. Include the date and the rate source when presenting a conversion. You can refer to the Bank of Thailand exchange-rate data; the appropriate rate depends on the currency and purpose of the conversion.
Do not use a wealth label as a measure of financial health
A high asset value can coexist with debt, tax obligations, or assets that are difficult to sell. For a personal financial check, consider savings, debt, cash flow, and your own goals together. See the personal finance health checklist.
